A Few Days before the Wheelchair Day (Journée Du Fauteuil Roulant)

This is a very important week for Handicap Solidaire Burkina. This Friday, 18th October 2013, the long awaited 'Wheelchair Day' will take place in the heart of Ouagadougou; Place de la Nation.

This event will be filled with various exciting events with the aim of raising awareness of disabled people living in Burkina Faso. Some of the events taking place are :

  •   A Speech from the HSB Programme Coordinator, Mr Alfred Ouédraogo.
  •   A Speech from the President of Handicap Solidaire Suisse, Mr Philippe Beuret
  •   Music performances by several artists with disabilities, including HSB's athlete Papa Wemba and Tigoung Nonma’s Rasmata
  •  Interviews with journalists
  • Demonstrations of wheelchairs and many more

As well as these events we will have our IS partner organisations showcasing their work.

Tigoung Nonma will be showcasing their beautiful artwork, ranging from handmade genuine leather handbags, handmade bracelets to personalised seasonal cards.

Djugui Espoir will be selling their famous and delicious tofu brochettes, alongside their soya milk.

Below is a poster advertising the event, which has been posted on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter.

We can't wait for the 18th!
