Beogo HSB :(

We are currently in our last week of work with HSB (L). We have all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and working alongside some truly inspirational people. During our last week of work we took some of the children from the Espace bambino to Ram Som Kieta Hotel for a day of swimming and ice cream with some of the donations that had been made. The children were a little afraid at first as they had never been in a swimming pool before so it was quite daunting, however once they felt the first splash of water they were diving, playing and eager to learn how to swim! For us, ( the volunteers) it was a genuine highlight of the trip. I have never seen such happiness amongst the children! We sincerely hope that trips like this will continue at HSB.

We also visited Bangr Weogo- a forest in Ouagadougou. As the mothers prepared the food for the day, we piled on to a hot, sweaty bus with the children and mothers. They could not contain their excitement! We had a musician with us so we had a Mooré singalong en route to the forest. The day was spent sitting under the trees playing games, blowing bubbles and traditional dancing. We then enjoyed a tasty meal prepared by the Mothers of the Espace Bambino.

At work we have been finalising all of the work we have done in the past 3 months and preparing a handover for the next cohort. Our video is almost finished – we have worked so hard on it! We have also been applying for a USAID fund and also the Alumni small grants fund (fingers crossed!). Finilsation of the micro-credit project is also being done.

We would just like to say a huge thankyou to HSB- Freddy, Pierre, Mariam, Alima, Sidionie and Nathalie. Also a huge thankyou to the team we worked with – Franceline and Alexis and our amazing team leader Souad. Our time with IS wouldn’t have been the same without you all. We will never forget you!
