The end of our placement is approaching soon and we wanted to spend some time with a family of the Espace Bambino.
Faridatou's mum kindly accepted to welcome us on a week end to share some good time with her and her family. It was also a good opportunity for us to experience the living conditions of these families who live very far from the city centre in the 'zone non-loties' where there is no running water or electricity.
As soon as we arrived, the news spread in the neighbourhood that some 'nasaras' (term used for foreigners) came to visit and we did attract a lot of attention. Everyone was so welcoming and eager to meet us. Faridatou's mum prepared some tô (traditional meal made of corn flour) and even showed us how to make it!
We then helped prepare some other food and everyone was so happy to cook with us! After sharing a delicious meal, we then played games with the children and watched the stars. Jo even had the chance to carry a little baby on her back as women traditionally do here.
